Directions to our Tour and Hire Centre

OUR ADDRESS

Lambeth Towers, 74 Kennington Road, London, SE11 6NJ

(Please note that this is Kennington Road in Lambeth, not to be confused with Kensington Road in Knightsbridge!)

We are on the ground floor of Lambeth Towers, located on the crossroads of Lambeth Road and Kennington Road. This is next to a well-known museum, the Imperial War Museum, in the middle of Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park.

USEFUL TOOLS

Many locals find London-specialised apps to be the best journey planning tools, such as Transport for London's Journey planner or Citymapper. On these websites, add "London Bicycle Tour Company" as your destination, or use the app versions: TfL Go and Citymapper.

Travelling via public transport

London's tube network is generally the fastest and easiest way to get to us.

BY UNDERGROUND

Our closest underground station is Lambeth North. This is on the Bakerloo line, coloured brown, and one stop before the southern end of the line. From Lambeth North underground station, we are an easy three minutes walk away.

The second-closest station is Waterloo, a major rail and underground travel hub. In some cases, it may be easier to travel and then walk, rather than changing to the Bakerloo line of the underground. From here, the walk is approximately 10 minutes.

From Lambeth North Underground Station

When leaving the station, you will be see a large road junction in front of you. You should aim to walk down the road leading away from you and to the left, between the church and The Hercules pub. 

This is most-easily done by crossing the pedestrian crossing slightly to your left, pictured below.

You should now be on Kennington Road, heading toward the "Imperial War Museum" as indicated by a brown sign. Just past the church, cross the road again to outside The Hercules pub, and continue down the road to your left.

Follow this road along until you reach another junction. With the Three Stags pub on your left, our store is across the road in front of you, through a metal arch among some trees.

From Waterloo Station

Waterloo Station is a big building, and where you arrive in the station will depend on how you got there. When leaving your underground or overground train, you should be able to make your way to the main concourse, recognisable by its departure boards and the big clock hanging from the ceiling.

From there, make your way toward exit 2, which is opposite platform 5 and next to an M&S Food shop. This will take you down some escalators, with the doors directly ahead of you.

On the street, turn right, heading south down Waterloo Road.

You should soon come to a junction with Baylis Road, with the Old Vic Theatre diagonally across from the corner you are standing on. At this junction, turn right.

Follow Baylis Road past Lower Marsh, continuing into a quieter and more residential area.

After a few minutes, you will come to another junction, with a city cycle hire rack across the road on your left. Cross the road here to find yourself outside Lambeth North underground station, approximately three minutes' walk from our shop. From here, follow the instructions in the section above.

BY BIKE

We are not far from cycleway C5, which passes close to Waterloo Station via Bayliss Road. Follow this road south on the separated cycle lane until its end.

At this junction, outside Lambeth North underground station, continue onto the cycle lane along Kennington Road. The next junction is with Lambeth Road, where you will need to wait for the lights, cycling diagonally across the junction and through the archway to find us.

The city's bicycle hire scheme, known as "Boris bikes" or "Santander Cycles", can be found at many docking stations around central London, and sometimes includes E-bikes. These docking stations are run by Transport for London, which maps them both online and via an app. The "Kennington Road, Vauxhall" docking station is close to our shop.

For a reasonable daily charge, these bikes can be used for up to 60 minutes at a time before they must be re-docked. After 60 minutes, rental charges increase considerably, so if you would like a longer ride without continuous re-docking, traditional bike hire stores are a better deal. You can also rent a dockless bike using a variety of apps, such as Forest Bikes or Lime Bikes.

BY BUS

Follow this link for all the bus routes that stop nearby. You will be getting off at either Lambeth North, Imperial War Museum Kennington Road, Lambeth Rd, Kennington Road.

Travelling via road

BY CAR

Parking nearby is very limited and quite expensive, so we encourage all visitors to make use of public transport where possible.

If you are picking up a bicycle or unloading, you can park on the road marked with a single yellow line directly outside our shop for a short time between 10AM and 4PM. If you are planning to leave your car for some time, you can park on these single yellow lines only on Sundays.

If you prefer to park your car in a privately run car par, parking spaces can be rented from a nearby hotel, but this must be pre-booked with the parking operator, and is unlikely to be free at short notice during peak seasons. Otherwise, you can look up local parking here.

BY TAXI/UBER

Most drivers should be able to find us when told to find "The London Bicycle Tour Company on Kennington Road, in Lambeth". The driver should be able to confirm that this is across the road from the Imperial War Museum, a well-known museum.

However, please ensure that your driver is headed to our location in Lambeth, not our former location at Butler's Wharf, and that they have not mistaken Kennington Road for Kensington Road.

Please be aware that taxis are often a slower, more expensive, and less reliable way to reach us than most forms of public transport.
